Members of the Europe Jazz Media initiative met in Bremen, Germany, during the 12th jazzahead! trade fair and exhibition on April 28, 2017. These regular meetings during jazzahead! have been made possible by the kind cooperation of jazzahead! press service (personal thanks to Katharina Busch.)
The meeting was attended by Christine Stefan (Jazzthetik, Germany,) Jon Newey (Jazzwise, U.K.,) Cim Meyer (Jazz Special, Denmark,) Madli-Liis Parts (Muusika, Estonia, who served as the Europe Jazz Media coordinator in 2010-2013,) Patrik Sandberg (Orkester Journalen, Sweden,) Cyril Moshkow (Jazz.Ru, Russia, current EJM coordinator,) Stefano Zucchiatti (Europe Jazz Network communication manager) and Reza Ackbaraly (former program manager at Mezzo TV, currently starting up a new TV music distribution company, Auditorium films.) Jazz Forum’s Paweł Brodowski, Giornale della Musica‘s Luca Vitali, and Salt Peanuts‘ Jan Granlie were not attending jazzahead! this year.
The members shared their experience in the changing landscape of the modern media, which varied from country to country. We also reviewed the EJM initiatives over the last five years, and planned to expand them.
Our next meetings may happen in Ljubljana, Slovenia, during the European Jazz Conference on September 21-24, 2017, and/or in St.Petersburg, Russia, during the St.Petersburg International Culture Forum on November 16-18, 2017. We are also looking forward to meeting at the next jazzahead! on April 19-22, 2018.
A more detailed memo was sent to all members. Thank you for a great meeting, and see you next time!
