Europe Jazz Media Chart, April 2018

One of the earliest initiatives of EJM is the Europe Jazz Media Chart: a non-sales-related chart that reveals some of the hot new music surfacing across the globe right now. Some contributors also add their comments, explaining their choice. In October, 2017, the chart passed the 5th birthday of the initiative, as the inaugural chart was published in October, 2012; the April, 2018 edition is the 67th EJM Chart.

Paweł Brodowski comments:
Adam Makowicz, 77, is one the few living piano virtuosos in the tradition of Art Tatum, Erroll Garner and Oscar Peterson. «Swinging Ivories», recorded live for Polish Radio at Witold Lutoslawski Concert Hall in Warsaw last November, it is Makowicz’s first new album in almost ten years. It features his own original compositions as well as standards from the Great American Songbook, displaying his stunnig virtuosity, lyrical touch and invention.
